Connecting Grok to Clear Street: Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Connect your Clear Street account to Grok in a few minutes with Clear Street’s MCP server. Then use Grok to analyze your portfolio, review trades and executions, get live market data and news, and place and manage orders.
Clear Street’s MCP server lets Grok work with your Clear Street trading account. Once it’s connected, Grok can check your balances, positions, orders, and portfolio history. It can also research instruments and pull market data and news. With the trading endpoint, it can place and manage orders too.
In this guide, we’ll walk through what Grok can do once it’s connected, what you need before you start, and how to set up the Clear Street connector in Grok step by step. The whole setup takes just a few minutes.
What you can do once Grok is connected
Clear Street’s MCP server gives Grok direct, structured access to your account and to Clear Street’s market data, so it can answer questions with real numbers instead of guesses. Once it’s connected, you can ask Grok to:
- Check balances and buying power across your accounts.
- Review positions and P&L, including how individual holdings or options are doing today.
- Look up orders, both open and recently filled.
- Pull portfolio history to see how your account has performed over time.
- Research instruments, such as company details and financial statements.
- Get quotes and market data for the symbols you follow.
- Read the latest news on a stock or the market.
If you connect the trading endpoint, you can use Grok to place, modify, and cancel orders.
What you need
- A Clear Street account. To place orders through Grok, you also need the Trade permission on the account(s) you want to trade.
- A Grok account. On Grok Business or Enterprise, a team admin has to add the connector first.

Read-only or trading: choosing an endpoint
Clear Street offers two MCP endpoints. The one you choose determines what Grok is allowed to do.
Read-only
https://api.clearstreet.com/v1/mcp
The read-only endpoint gives Grok access to your account data, market data, and news. It can never place or cancel orders. This is the recommended place to start, and it’s the right choice if you only want Grok for research, monitoring, and checking on your portfolio.
Trading
https://api.clearstreet.com/v1/mcp/trading
The trading endpoint includes everything in read-only, plus placing, replacing, and canceling orders.
How to connect Grok to Clear Street, step by step
1. Open Connectors and start a custom connector
Go to grok.com/connectors and click New Connector, then choose + Custom.

2. Enter a name and the server URL
- Name:
Clear Street - Server URL: the read-only or trading endpoint you chose above
Click Add Connector.

3. Enter the OAuth credentials
Grok detects that Clear Street uses OAuth and shows an OAuth Credentials Required form. Fill it in as follows:
- Client ID:
mOHlYq3NMBFqjDCo2NWkKQKSdzqIgE2O - Client Secret: leave blank
- Authorization Endpoint, Token Endpoint, and Scopes: filled in automatically. Leave them as they are.
- Token Auth Method:
none (PKCE only, recommended)
The Client ID is public and the same for every Clear Street client, so there’s nothing to generate or keep secret. There’s no client secret because the connection uses PKCE, which secures the sign-in without one. Click Save & Connect.

4. Sign in to Clear Street
Clear Street’s login page opens. Sign in with your Clear Street email and password. Grok never sees your password.
5. Confirm it’s connected
You’re returned to Connectors. Clear Street now shows under Connected, and you’ll see a “Connector added successfully” message.

6. Try it
Start a new chat and ask something about your account. Grok shows “Used Clear Street Connector” when it calls Clear Street. If you have more than one account, tell Grok which one you mean, or it will ask you.

Example prompts to try
- “How are my options doing today?”
- “What’s my current balance and buying power?”
- “Show me all my open positions.”
- “What’s the latest quote for NVDA?”
- “Pull the latest income statement for AAPL.”
Use Grok with Clear Street in your Tesla
Grok is built into Tesla vehicles, and connectors you add in Grok carry over to the car once it’s signed in to the same Grok account.
Not quite a flying car, but I placed a live trade by voice in my Tesla @elonmusk @grok @Tesla https://t.co/6XzFeqICSp

Requirements
- An AMD infotainment processor. To check, go to Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information on the touchscreen.
- Vehicle software 2025.26 or later for Grok, and 2026.26 or later for Connectors.
- Premium Connectivity or a Wi-Fi connection.
- A signed-in Grok account. Basic Grok works without one, but Connectors don’t.
Steps
- Set up the Clear Street connector first, using the steps above. Connectors are set up on your phone or computer, not on the car’s touchscreen.
- In the car, open Grok: tap App Launcher > Grok, or press and hold the microphone button on the steering wheel.
- Tap Sign In, then finish signing in with the Grok app on your phone. Use the same Grok account you connected Clear Street with.
- Optional: to use “Hey Grok” hands-free, turn it on in Grok’s settings on the touchscreen (Tesla’s support page lists Controls > Audio > Grok Settings; the 2026.26 release notes say Grok > Settings).
- Ask a question, for example “Hey Grok, how are my positions doing today?”
