Clear Street MCP server and skills
You can connect supported AI assistants and developer tools, such as Claude and ChatGPT, to your Clear Street account through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Clear Street also publishes API-based skills for agents that use skills instead of an MCP connector.
The Clear Street developer documentation is the authoritative source for setup. It covers endpoint URLs, the OAuth Client ID, setup steps for each assistant, the available tools, and skill requirements:
Choosing an endpoint
There are two MCP endpoints. Read-only gives your assistant access to account data and research, and is recommended for most users. Trading adds the ability to place, modify, and cancel orders. Use the trading endpoint only if you specifically want your assistant to act on orders.
Troubleshooting
Login blocked or rejected during OAuth. The OAuth callback URL must exactly match one of Clear Street's allowed callback URLs. A close match is rejected. For Claude Code, the callback must be http://localhost:8976/callback. Use localhost, not 127.0.0.1, and the path /callback, which is what the --callback-port 8976 flag in the MCP guide sets up. If you use a custom MCP client, make sure it isn't adding a different host, port, or path to the callback.
If you still can't connect, contact Support with the tool you're using and the error you see. Don't share your API key or password.
Important notes
- Only connect assistants and tools you trust.
- Review the permissions and actions available in any assistant before using it with your account.
