API keys and developer documentation
Manage API keys
API keys are managed from the Account area in the Clear Street web platform when API access is enabled for your user. From there you can:
- Generate and name new API keys.
- See each key's name, status, and expiration date.
- Revoke one key, or all of your active keys at once.
Every API request is authenticated with a bearer token tied to a key you generate. Treat API keys like passwords: don't share them, including in chat messages, and revoke any key you think has been exposed.
What you can do with the API
- Place, modify, and cancel orders, including the order types and execution strategies covered in the Trading guide.
- Pull positions, balances, buying power, orders, and account history.
- Get market data, instrument data, financial statements, and news.
- Manage watchlists.
- Send questions to Omni AI and use its responses in your own workflows.
SDKs and the OpenAPI specification
Clear Street publishes SDKs for Python, JavaScript, Java, and Go. The REST API is described by an OpenAPI specification. See the API reference and the OpenAPI spec.
FIX API
A FIX API is available for clients who already run FIX-capable trading systems. It currently supports U.S. common stocks only, with market, limit, stop, and stop-limit orders. Options, multi-leg orders, and trailing stop orders aren't supported over FIX. To set up a FIX session, contact Support. See the FIX API guide.
