Common Questions About Funding
These answers cover common funding questions, including wire transfers, ACH withdrawal timing, linked bank accounts, and when funds become available to trade.
Wire transfers
How do I initiate a wire transfer?
Every bank is slightly different. You will need to log in to your online account and look for a page related to transfers and payments.
How do I track my wire transfer?
You can check the status of your wire transfer from your bank’s website or mobile app. Once the wire is complete and we receive the funds, they will appear in your trading account.
Can I fund my account from a bank account or a source with a different legal name (“third party”)?
No. All funds must come from a bank/brokerage account with the same name and address as your trading account. Any deviation will result in RETURNED WIRES, causing delays.
ACH transfers
When can I withdraw funds that were recently sent via ACH?
Funds deposited through ACH can be withdrawn 5 business days after they post in the account. For general withdrawal instructions and cutoff timing, see 📄 Withdrawing Funds from Your Account.
Linked bank accounts
Why do the last 4 digits of my linked bank account look different?
Some banks, including Chase, PNC, and U.S. Bank, give Plaid a tokenized account number instead of your actual account number, so the last 4 digits shown in Clear Street won't match your bank statement. Your transfers still go to and from your real account. For details, see 📄 Funding Your Account.
Trading availability
When can I start trading after I move funds into my account?
Wires received before 3:00 PM ET are typically credited the same business day. ACH deposits submitted by 2:00 PM ET are typically available to trade the next business day, but may be subject to a hold of up to 3 business days. For details, see 📄 When Deposited Funds Become Available for Trading.
